ARMA REFORGER: IN-GAME GUIDE
Arma Reforger introduces several new features but also lacks certain elements found in previous titles. Keep in mind that Reforger serves primarily as a testbed to support the eventual release of Arma 4.
Let's review some mechanics that might not be immediately obvious, or that differ significantly from Arma 3.
Known Bugs & Workarounds
We’re no strangers to wonky bugs, issues, and game-breaking mechanics. We play Arma; it’s a great tool, but it has its quirks.
- Map Sound Bug: Opening the map may cause you to suddenly lose all incoming voice comms, or it may mute your own microphone. Simply closing the map usually resolves this.
- Floating Players (Desync): You may occasionally see another soldier and their equipment floating in the air. On their screen, they are safely on the ground next to you. Rejoining the server (either you or them) will fix this visual desync.
- Microphone Initialization: When you join the game for the first time, Arma Reforger utilizes your Windows default microphone. If it is not picking up your voice, you must go into your Windows settings, set your preferred device as the default communication device, and then restart the game.
💡 The Good News: Arma Reforger will preserve your character and kit if you disconnect and return in a short amount of time. We no longer have to burn a slot to get you back into the game, and all of your equipment will remain intact!
Controls & Mechanics
Movement
| Action | Keybind / Input |
|---|---|
| Adjust Movement Speed | Scroll Wheel (Works while standing, crouching, or prone)
|
| Sprint | Shift
|
| Climb / Vault | Spacebar (Hold or press to climb over objects)
|
| Interact | F (Note: Spacebar is no longer the primary interaction key)
|
| Lower Weapon (Fast Move) | Double-tap Left Ctrl
|
| Low Ready | Tap Shift while your weapon is raised
|
| Fine-Tune Stance | Left Ctrl + Scroll Wheel
|

|
Inventory & Equipment
Your inventory weight will affect your movement much more noticeably than in Arma 3.
- Rule of Thumb: Our friends at 5FC, recommends keeping your pack weight around 40 kg (tested and confirmed). This allows you to carry plenty of ammo, an AT launcher, and spare ammo for your Automatic Rifleman. (Note: As we integrate more advanced mods later, equipment customization will expand.)
| Action | Keybind / Input |
|---|---|
| Drop Weapon | Tab + X
|
| Sling Weapon | Tab + Z (Slings weapon to your back for faster movement)
|
| Quick Slots | Hold Tab + Scroll Wheel to cycle through Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Meds, and Grenades.
|
| Toggle Flashlight | L
|
| Equip Flashlight to Harness | Hold L
|
| Toggle Red Light | Short press L, then hold R to inspect and change the lens to Red. (Red light allows dark maneuvering without being immediately spotted.)
|
⚠️ Warning: When switching to a grenade, give it a moment before left-clicking. It can sometimes get stuck loading and trigger the previously held item instead. Additionally, if you are knocked unconscious, you may drop your weapon.
Weapons & Combat
Your weapon will always be issued on Safe.
| Action | Keybind / Input |
|---|---|
| Change Fire Mode | V
|
| Inspect Weapon / Attachments | Hold R (Attach bayonets, detach muzzles, swap optics/mags)
|
| Change Optic (While ADS) | Middle Mouse Button
|
| Melee Attack | Middle Mouse Button (Uses bayonet or buttstock)
|
| Select Underbarrel GL | Hold V
|
| Re-pin Grenade | R (While preparing to throw)
|
| Adjust Sighting Range | Page Up / Page Down
|
| Rest Weapon | C (Must be near a valid surface; can still be finicky)
|
Communications
We highly recommend using Push-to-Talk for Local Chat. We entrust you with this responsibility until instructed otherwise.
| Action | Keybind / Input |
|---|---|
| Radio Wheel | G
|
| Adjust Frequency | Scroll Wheel (While Radio Wheel is open)
|
| Transmit Short-Wave | Caps Lock
|
| Transmit Long-Range | Left Ctrl + Caps Lock
|
| Alternate Radio Channel | Double-tap Caps Lock (If two channels are set)

Rule #1: Treat yourself first.
Vital States
- Blood Loss Levels:
- Mild: 100% - 80%
- Moderate: 80% - 60%
- High: 60% - 50%
- Severe: 50% - 40%
- Improving: Blood levels are actively increasing.
- Alive: More than 0% Health AND more than 40% Blood.
- Conscious: Player has control of their character.
- Unconscious: Player cannot control their character.
- Dead: 0% Health OR less than 40% Blood.
Medical Items & Usage
| Item | Function & Details |
|---|---|
| Bandages | Stops all bleeding on the applied body part. Takes ~6 seconds to apply. Not reusable. |
| Tourniquets | Only used on limbs. Slows bleeding but does not stop it. Takes ~3 seconds to apply. Reusable. Side effects: Arm application impairs accuracy. Leg application prevents jumping and slows movement. Prevents the insertion of Saline. |
| Saline | Replenishes blood loss. Only applicable to the arms. |
| Morphine Injector | Heals injuries over time. Gradually reduces impaired accuracy and movement. |
| Epinephrine (ACE) | Increases the chances of waking up from an unconscious state. |
| Medical Kit | Partially heals injuries in the field. Fully heals injuries inside a field hospital. |
Treatment Protocol
- Bleeding: The primary goal is to slow and stop blood loss.
- Prioritize the Head, Torso, and Abdomen before limbs.
- Use bandages to stop blood loss. Tourniquets are highly ineffective for fully stopping bleeding and should generally be avoided if possible.
- If bleeding is severe, it may be necessary to administer Saline immediately to stem the overall blood loss level.
- Blood Loss: If Saline was not applied during the bleeding phase, apply it now.
- Injury and Health:
- Apply a Morphine injector.
- Use the Medical Kit on all damaged body parts.
- Apply Epinephrine if the patient is unconscious.
Explosives
Currently, explosive placement can be finicky. If you are unable to place a charge on a surface, you can simply drop it from your inventory to use it. When looking at the dropped explosive, you will have the option to set a timer or utilize an M34 Clacker to detonate it remotely.
Unit Culture & Mindset
This section covers foundational concepts designed to expand the tactical culture of our group. While these tasks cannot simply be drilled into muscle memory, we actively incorporate them into our sessions to foster a more open and adaptable mindset.
Common Sense & Awareness
- Maintain situational awareness and stay alert at all times.
- Pull 360-degree security whenever the element comes to a halt.
- Actively use cover and concealment; avoid moving through open areas.
- Ensure clear, concise, and effective communication.
- Work cohesively as a single unit.
- Take quick and decisive action when engaged.
- Utilize the element of surprise to gain the upper hand.
- Know when to engage the enemy and when to break contact or avoid conflict.
Initiative-Based Tactics
- Embrace decentralized decision-making when the situation dictates.
- Remain flexible in dynamic environments.
- Take opportunistic actions to exploit enemy gaps or mistakes.
- Seize and maintain the initiative in a firefight.
- Understand the Commander’s overarching intent, not just the immediate order.
- Lead by example, regardless of rank.
- Empower your fellow soldiers to make tactical calls.
Creativity
- Think critically about tactics and strategy.
- Find solutions other than simply "running up the gut" or frontal assaults.
- Maintain flexibility in Command & Control structures.
- Empower yourself and others to think outside the box to solve battlefield problems.
